At Donnelly, we support our students from the application process through graduation, and finding financial aid is an important step. Not sure where to start? This will give you an idea of how the financial aid process works. Making your college dream a reality means making a financial investment in yourself and in your future.
We’ll help you find the right resources for your situation, whether that be through scholarships, grants or loans if necessary. As the financial aid applicant/recipient, you’ll have to comply with all of the policies, procedures and requirements pertaining to your eligibility for student financial aid.
At Donnelly, we offer comprehensive financial aid packages. These may include federal funding, state funding and institutional aid. Institutional Aid funding may include merit and need-based scholarships as well as other external funding opportunities. Grants
Grants are a form of financial aid that do not need to be paid back. Need-based financial aid can come from federal, state, school and private sources to help you pay for college.

Apply for Grants
- If you are a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, apply with the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Donnelly’s school code is 001914. Once completed, Donnelly should receive the FAFSA results within 3-5 business days.
- If you are not FAFSA-eligible, complete Donnelly's Family Contribution Estimator Form. Return this worksheet and a copy of your most recent tax information to the financial aid office or admissions office. NOTE: Any students under the age of 24 must include their parents’ tax information with this application.
- Must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credits.
Financial Aid Offers
Once financial aid applications are completed, students are offered aid. Because grant funds are not required to be paid back after graduation, Donnelly automatically offers any grant funds a student is eligible for. Changes in program or hours enrolled can have an affect on a student’s grant eligibility, so these changes are reviewed regularly to keep a student’s financial aid offers as accurate as possible.
Types of Need-Based Grants
- The Pell Grant is the most well-known grant provided by the FAFSA.
- For 2024-2025, the grant is awarded as an annual amount up to $7,395.
- Amount is based on financial need and enrollment status (full-time, three-quarter-time, half-time, less than half-time).
- FAFSA grant that is used to supplement the Pell Grant.
- Offered up to $1,000 per semester.
- Preference given to students with most financial need.
- State grant offered to FAFSA-eligible students with financial need.
- Student must be a KS resident.
- Student must be enrolled full-time.
- Need-based grant for students that are not Pell Grant eligible.
- Grant covers 25% to 50% of tuition and fees based on financial need and other circumstances.
- Cannot be combined with other grants or scholarships.
